[Review] Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

I picked up this Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner last time I was in Korea because they were having buy one eyeliner, get one free! This one seemed impressive, so without much thought I picked this one out!

Let's checkout the breakdown...

Packaging....
I picked this eyeliner out because it looked fancyyy to me. It almost looks like Lancome eyeliner packaging. Plus, I love that it's an automatic pencil, so no need for sharpening!

Color...
The color I have is "Black"...
Like I said, it's an automatic pencil so that's nice. It rolls up when you need more product.

Softness/Smoothness...
This eyeliner is the perfect combination of softness, but not too creamy. It glides and fairly well and doesn't tug at your skin.

Pigmentation...
This eyeliner is definitely not a pigmented eyeliner. It's more along the lines of a soft black versus a really dark black. The bottom line is one swipe, the middle line is two swipes, and the third line is three swipes. You can see that even on the three swipes, it's still not very dark.

Smudge Test...
I waited for the eyeliner to set and dry and dragged my finger across the lines. It smudged very easily and pretty bad as you can see in the picture below.

Waterproof Test...
Well it may not be smudge proof, but this has to be waterproof since it says "waterproof" in the name right? WRONG. It washed off really easily in the water. I mean, if you're looking for eyeliner that washes off easily, this would be good for you! haha. But for me, I like long wearing and dark eyeliners.

As you can see, it wiped off pretty easily after getting it wet.

[Review] Tony Moly Magic Food Banana Sleeping Pack Mask

Monday, January 19, 2015

If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm obsessed with sleeping packs! I love sleeping packs because I love the idea of going to bed and then waking up beautiful! haha. So when I saw Tony Moly had come out with their new Banana Sleeping Pack, I had to buy it and try it out! I bought this item from www.beautynetkorea.com, which is a website I love!

Let's get to the breakdown...

Packaging....
Seriously, how can you not love this packaging?! It's adorable!! My only issue it that it obviously doesn't stand up on it's own. Also, I'm probably going to have a hard time getting all the product out of it when I get towards the end since it's a squeeze tube.

The bottle itself it fairly squishy, so you just squeeze the product out of the top!

Benefits...
This sleeping pack contains chamomile and banana extracts, which are supposed to make your skin radiant and nourished. It's supposed to contain 10,000 ppm of banana extracts (I tried to look up what that meant, but I couldn't find anything. If you know what it means, let me know!)

What is a sleeping pack...
A sleeping pack is just a mask you apply at night. Like any sleeping pack, you're supposed to wash your face and apply your normal skincare. Then, apply this, go to sleep and wash it off in the morning to reveal soft and supple skin!

Consistency...
This sleeping pack is actually pretty thick! It's a heavy cream when applied to the skin. It's definitely not the lightest sleeping pack, so if you have oily skin, I probably wouldn't recommend this. It also feels a little sticky, even after it dries :/ It's really not terrible, but I could definitely feel it on my skin as I slept. It's slightly uncomfortable, but if you're used to sleeping with masks or heavy creams, then you probably won't mind. If you're really sensitive to that, I might pass on this if I were you.

Scent...
I had to add this in this review that this stuff smells EXACTLY like Banana Laffy Taffy. The smell dissipates after it sits on your skin for a while, and you really only smell it when you first apply it!

 Results...
I had mixed feelings about this sleeping pack. I liked how soft and moisturized my skin felt, but I was looking forward to washing it off in the morning because I don't care for the feeling of heavy creams. As soon as I washed it off though, my skin looked PLUMP. It looked like it had sucked up all the nutrients and moisture and my skin looked really nice. Keep in mind, I have dry skin though, so my skin does well with heavier products. To break it down, if you have oily, acne-prone skin, or don't like the feeling of heavy creams, I would pass on this. If you have dry skin and don't mind the feeling, give this a try!

In the picture below, I rubbed the product into my skin. You can see the gloss from the product and that it creates a nice layer on the skin.

[Review] Etude House Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips Lipstick in PPK004

Sunday, January 18, 2015

This pretty little lippie definitely deserves a proper review! I featured this Etoinette Crystal Shine Lips Lipstick in both my November Favorites and Best in Beauty for 2014  so I decided to go ahead and review it for those of you who prefer to read versus watch!

So let's look at the breakdown...

Packaging...
This packaging is to die for! I love the cutes-y packaging especially because it's big girl makeup in princess packaging!

Formula...
The formula of this lipstick is nice and smooothhhh. I love how it glides on my lips and isn't drying at all. It actually feels like a combination of a lipstick and a lip balm so it's very comfortable to wear.

 Lasting-Ability....
This really isn't the longest lasting lipstick, but it also doesn't fade right away. It lasts a couple hours, and then you need to reapply it. Honestly, reapplying lipstick is not something that I really mind, so for me, I don't really dock points for that. What I do dock points for is when a lip product fades away terribly (ex. leaving lips dry, leaving specks of glitter, clinging to dry areas, etc.). Fortunately, this wears off similar to a lip balm, so it's easy to just whip it out, reapply, and go on with your day!

Color...
This really is one of my favorite pink lipsticks. For some reason, I feel like I have a hard time pulling off pink shades. I don't know if it's because of my skin tone, but pink shades on my never look quite right. However, this shade (PPK004) is one of those colors that a "my lips but better" shade. It looks good with any makeup combination, or no makeup at all!

Andddd this is what it looks like on me! BTW, want to know what is making my skin look soooo nice and photoshopped (I swear I didn't retouch this photo!)? Read my review of my new HOLY GRAIL product! Trust me, you'll be happy you did!

[Review] Etude House Beauty Shot Photo Blur

Saturday, January 17, 2015

Ok guys! Here is the long awaited review of the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur! As soon I showed this in my Big Korean Haul and on my Instagram, everyone wanted a review! So I decided to do a first impression video on it, as well as a post :) I also bought this product from www.beautynetkorea.com.

So let's look at the breakdown...

Packaging
I love the packaging of this because it's not only cute to look at, but it's also in a pump! I love pumps for face products!

How to use...
This is meant to be used as a face primer before your foundation and makeup.  I apply this to my skin with my fingers after I've moisturized and before I started applying makeup so it has time to set in my skin.

Benefits...
On the box, it claims that this product is supposed to smooth the skin, hide pores, and tone up your complexion (this means balancing out your skin tone). It also has an SPF of 15 which is always an added bonus in my book!

Consistency...
When you first apply it to your skin, it feels a little tacky. This is because it makes your make last longer! I did notice that when I used this with my normal BB cream, Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream (review here!), it does last longer.

Appearance...
Whoa, this stuff is not kidding when it says it's a "photo blur". On my skin, this stuff literally makes my skin look photoshopped. It makes my skin look so perfect, radiant, and luminous! My dad even commented on my skin and he never does! It appears very bright and healthy! You can see that in the pictures, my skin looks photoshop and has a nice "glow" but I swear, I didn't touch the pictures!

Lasting Ability...
This is one area that it fell a little short in. Because it's a face primer, I was expecting it make my makeup last longer, but I didn't notice any spectacular lasting power in this. I'm sure it helped, but it wasn't anything drastic. However, because it makes my skin look so awesome, I can forgive the fact that it doesn't last forever.

This is what my skin looks like in natural light and with all my normal makeup applied. I'm facing a window and you can see how bright and nice my skin looks! It seriously looks photoshopped! I can't believe it!

This is what it looks like under fluorescent lighting. It's awesome because it doesn't bounce light of my skin like crazy (which is what gives you that "mask" appearance in bright lights and photos) but it's just the right amount of luminosity!

On the back of my hand, you can see that it does hide some of my hair follicles, smooths my skin, and brights my skin ever so slightly. It's one of those products that's gives a natural "je ne sais quoi" kind of look :)

How crazy does my skin look in this photo?!?!?! I swear, I did not retouch it one bit and the makeup I applied on top is makeup I usually wear! So the only difference is the Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur!

[Review] Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly BB Cream

Friday, January 16, 2015

This is one of the most famous BB creams on the internet and in Korea. It's gotten rave reviews from many popular beauty bloggers, including Michelle Phan, who mentioned it in one of her videos. So naturally, I had to buy it and review it myself :)

So let's breakdown the...

Packaging
The BB cream comes in a glass jar shaped like upside down jell-o. The cap is super cute, and it also comes with a nice sponge for application (I actually just use my fingers!)

Benefits...
The jelly-like texture is supposed to provide your skin comfortable and moist without feeling too heavy. It's also supposed to be nice, dewy and radiant, which makes it a very natural looking foundation. It also has an SPF of 20, which is awesome because I like anything that protects my skin from the sun. I feel like nowadays, every foundation should have SPF in it!

Shade...
The shade I got was 02. Like many Korean foundations, BB creams and CC creams, there are only two shades and they come in light colors. Most likely if you're any darker than a medium tone in American foundation colors, this will be too light for you. Luckily, I'm able to blend this in my skin more with a little bronzer and powder.

Coverage...
Like I mentioned, the texture is jelly-like (hence the name) and very light. Because of this, it doesn't offer the heaviest coverage. I would say the coverage of this is light to medium. Although it's not heavy coverage though, it is build-able. You can apply a layer, let it dry, and then apply another one. That way, you can customize the coverage, which is nice!

Consistency...
Like the name implies, this BB cream is jiggly like jello-! The cap has a spatula built in it, which makes applying it even easier. I like to just rub it into my skin, after I've applied my daily moisturizer and primer :)

Finish...
I LOVE the finish of this! As I mentioned, it is a little light for my skin, but that's easily correct with powder and bronzer :) It has a nice, natural finish which looks soooo good! It blends in with my skin, doesn't look cake-y, and doesn't feel heavy at all. Really, it doesn't even feel like I'm wearing makeup!

Lasting-Ability...
Unfortunately, this is not the longest lasting foundation. After about 8 hours of wear, it feels like it wears off a little. Of course, this is something that can be fixed with some powder, but don't expect it to stay put through a 12-15 hour day!

This is what is looks like with natural sun light! As you can see, it looks very natural and blends in with my skin very nicely.

[Review] Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX

Thursday, January 15, 2015

This is one of those products you hear so many people rave about! So when I went to Korea last summer, I knew I just had to pick this up. Laneige, which in French translates to "the snow", is a one of those brands that's not necessarily cheap, but it's not super high end either. I believe I bought this at an Amore Pacific store for about 25,000 won or $25.

Ok so lets get to the review!

Packaging...
This is just your typical packaging. It comes in a jar and the one I bought is 80 mL. It doesn't seem like a really big jar, but this should last you a fairly long time!

On the back of the box, the only english is "The secret of water science". This is because Laneige skincare is know for its water-like properties. This provides moisture to the skin, which is the main benefit from using this sleeping pack!

What is a sleeping pack?...
If you're not familiar with sleeping packs, they are basically thin "masks" or a heavy moisturizers. For the most part, they are usually clear and aren't extremely noticeable when you have them on. Like the name implies, you wear it while you sleep and its supposed to work its magic overnight. Don't worry, this sleeping mask does dry to a smooth texture and doesn't stick or get on your pillows! That means comfortable sleeping :)

Consistency...
Like I mentioned above, this has a fairly light and "bouncy" consistency. It jiggles kind of like jell-o in the container :) This makes is easy to apply a thin layer!

How to use it...
After you cleanse your skin and apply your normal night time skincare you routine, you finished everything off with a thin layer of this. That's it! Go to bed and you'll wake up with a fresh and dewy face. Just be sure to wash it off in the morning!

 Results...
I absolutely LOVE this stuff. It makes my skin feel so fresh when I wake up and I love anything that will work for me while I sleep. How much easier can that get?! Plus, you can apply a fairly thin layer, so it doesn't feel heavy, but you still receive all the awesome benefits! Soft and supple skin :)
It comes with a spatula! How convenient!!
