Insider Beauty Korean Beauty Haul! CLIO, Missha, Goodal and more!

Saturday, September 5, 2015

Hi guys. So I promise, I'm trying to be better about updating this blog. It's really difficult considering I run everything by myself and I'm planning my trip for Korea (I leave later this month!). Anyways, enough excuses. Here's the follow up post for the haul that I did from Insider Beauty.
Disclaimer: I was sent all these products from InsiderBeauty to review, but they're not paying me to review them. As always, you guys are very important to me so my reviews are always honest!

Let's get to the breakdown of the haul...
Missha Super Aqua Cell Renew Snail Sleeping Mask
I've said this a thousand times, but I love the idea of my skincare working overtime in my sleep. Who doesn't love the idea of waking up with amazing skin? This was sent to me as a recommendation from InsiderBeauty and we'll see if this lives up to the hype! It's part of Missha's super popular "Super Aqua" line and it also has snail filtrate in it so we'll see!
Primera Peeling Facial Mild Broccoli Sprout Peeling Gel
I've been trying to test out of bunch of peeling gels for you guys so I can recommend some so this is definitely a contender. Don't worry about the broccoli sprout idea though! It smells very nice :)
 Leaders Insolution Moisturizing Recovery Mask
I've actually tried these masks before these two were sent to me and I can say that I already really like them! They're gel masks, so they hold hydration longer that standard sheet masks. Also, if you've never used these before, be sure to remove the film from BOTH sides. I did know this the first time I used it and accidentally left one film on and couldn't figure out why it was so stiff.lol.
Leaders Insolution Baby Soft Hand Mask
I can't wait to try these! I've never tried hand masks and have always been fascinated by them since I suffer from perpetually dry skin from my obsessive hand-washing.
Peri's Tint Crayon in #04 Fruity Love
This color is so nice for the summer! It's such a lovely pink color and the formula is actually nice and moisturizing as well. I love this because my lips are forever dry :(
Banila Co. Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm
This is a holy grail item for me. This is the BEST makeup remover I've ever used. My mom even loves this stuff and when we visit Korea at the end of this month, we'll probably buy, like, 20 tubs.
The texture is so smooth and just emulsifies as soon as it touches your skin. I actually ENJOY removing my makeup when I use this!
Goodal Mild Protect Watery Sun Cream 30 SPF
Goodal is a brand I've never tried and they focus on "fermented beauty". I don't know what to think about this because it's intimidating thinking I'm putting rotten things on my face... but considering I've tried scarier things (ahem, snail slime anyone?) I'm actually ready to try this! Plus, I can always use sunscreens :)
CLIO Kill Black Pen Liner and Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow in "Bottoms Up"
These are the gems of this haul! Last but not least, I'd like to present to you these beauties from CLIO! I'm really starting to LOVE CLIO products and think I'll buy a bunch of stuff from the while I'm in Korea. These both last all day are glide right onto my eyelids... just like they were meant to be there :)
Want to see how the liner performs and a formal review! Check out my video on it!
Anyways guys, I hope you enjoyed this haul! I've been doing a lot of haul posts lately, but fear not, I'll be back to posting other things soon!

xoxo,
Morgan

PS. Just wanted to say I LOVE you guys :)

[Review] Missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence

Sunday, January 25, 2015

This little beauty is one of my favorite parts of my skincare routine! The Missha Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence is something that I truly feel makes a difference in how my skin looks and feels!

Let's check out the breakdown...

Packaging...
This essence comes in a pretty heavy duty frosted glass bottle. It has a little spout at the top of it and you shake it upside down to get the product out (obviously. haha). I like that this looks very classy and clean though. It looks much more expensive than it actually is!

Benefits...
This is basically supposed to be a dupe of the very famous SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, but this one is muchhhh cheaper. It contains fermented yeast concentrate, which is supposed to enhance the texture of your skin, help make it healthier, and be good for it overall.

How I use it...
This is supposed to be the very first step of your skincare regime. This is because it's super light, so it'll absorb into your skin almost immediately. I just shake a little bit out into the palm of my hands and massage it into my skin. You could use a cotton pad, but I don't like doing that because I feel like it wastes a lot of product! Using your hands works perfectly well and personally I feel that the warmth from my skin helps it absorb better!

Consistency and scent...
This feels exactly like water. haha. It's very thin so a little goes a long way! You can see that I've maybe used 1/4 of the bottle and I've been using this everyday (sometimes twice a day) for about 4 months! It also doesn't have any scent.

Effects...
Like I mentioned in the beginning, I really feel that this has helped with the texture of my skin. It's also brighten my skin tone up a bit and even things out. This product really makes my skin look healthier! I'm tempted to try the SK-II one after liking this one so much however at the rate I'm using this, I'll have this bottle for a while before I'll need to run out and get a replacement!

[Review] Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

I picked up this Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner last time I was in Korea because they were having buy one eyeliner, get one free! This one seemed impressive, so without much thought I picked this one out!

Let's checkout the breakdown...

Packaging....
I picked this eyeliner out because it looked fancyyy to me. It almost looks like Lancome eyeliner packaging. Plus, I love that it's an automatic pencil, so no need for sharpening!

Color...
The color I have is "Black"...
Like I said, it's an automatic pencil so that's nice. It rolls up when you need more product.

Softness/Smoothness...
This eyeliner is the perfect combination of softness, but not too creamy. It glides and fairly well and doesn't tug at your skin.

Pigmentation...
This eyeliner is definitely not a pigmented eyeliner. It's more along the lines of a soft black versus a really dark black. The bottom line is one swipe, the middle line is two swipes, and the third line is three swipes. You can see that even on the three swipes, it's still not very dark.

Smudge Test...
I waited for the eyeliner to set and dry and dragged my finger across the lines. It smudged very easily and pretty bad as you can see in the picture below.

Waterproof Test...
Well it may not be smudge proof, but this has to be waterproof since it says "waterproof" in the name right? WRONG. It washed off really easily in the water. I mean, if you're looking for eyeliner that washes off easily, this would be good for you! haha. But for me, I like long wearing and dark eyeliners.

As you can see, it wiped off pretty easily after getting it wet.

[Review] Missha Misa Geum Sul Vitalizing BB Cake PA ++ 40 SPF No. 23

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Today I'll be reviewing one of Missha's newer BB creams. This will be a first impression on the Missha Misa Geum Sul Vitalizing BB Cake. It has an SPF of 40, comes in two colors (No. 21 and 23), and comes in a compact form.

As soon as I saw the packaging for this BB cream, I was immediately drawn to it because it is so beautiful! Missha is also known for having nice BB creams so I figured this one had to be good. I paid around $40 USD when I bought this in Korea. This BB cream claims to be:

  • Wrinkle-care + Whitening + UV Protection (3-in-1)
  • Long-lasting for up to 12 hours
  • Makeup + Skincare (contains oriental herbal ingredients)
  • No stickiness
  • Sebum Control

I absolutely love the packaging of this product. It is soo pretty and eye-catching. I also love it when BB creams come in pan-form because they are great for carrying with you and touching up while you're on-the-go!

Like most tradition compact BB creams, this Missha one comes with a puff. This puff is supposed to anti-microbial, but you can buy replacements ones if using the same puff over and over bothers you. Personally, I only use the puff while I'm on-the-go. When applying makeup at home, I prefer brushes.
I chose the second shade obviously. I put shade #2 on the picture, but the actual shade in the store is #23. You can choose from two shades (shade #21 and #23) but since I'm naturally tan, I opted for the second shade of couse! In the pan, it actually looks like it will be my shade! I was excited because as you may or may not know, Korean cosmetic companies make their foundations very light. It's very difficult to find a Korean foundation that matches your skin if you're even slightly tan.
When I placed the puff into the foundation, it seems nice and creamy. The texture seems smooth and it is not very dry at all. With these type of compact foundations, be sure to keep the cap nice and tight when you're not using it! Otherwise, it'll dry out very quickly!
This is what the foundation looks like on the puff. Again, it looks like it will match my skintone! YAY :)

I started applying foundation so my skin. With these type of foundations, you want to pat the product on. Patting gives it a more opaque coverage.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the Missha Geum Sul Vitalizing BB Cake on one side of my face. You can definitely see a difference in color! Although it's light on my skin, usually I can blend out light foundations enough to wear they look nice on my skin. This, however, it a little too light even though this is the second shade. The definitely has a high coverage, almost too high of a coverage. This foundation on my skin is borderline cakey :( I was dissappointed because I really wanted to like this foundation.

Conclusion:
As you can see in the picture above, there is a stark difference between the foundation color and my skin. You can basically see the makeup line along my hairline and jawline. This picture was taken in direct sunlight, and I felt like in the sun, this foundation emphasized any flaw. It stuck to any dry spots and just sat on my skin instead of absorbing in and looking natural. I could also feel it on my skin throughout the day and it didn't really feel like it "set". For how expensive this foundation was, I felt that more money was spent on the packaging, not really the quality of the product.

Here are a couple of products that I bought from the Color Pop Collection. I love how Korean makeup brands are coming out with more pigmented products! Also, I love that they had small "trial" version so you can see if you like the actual product/shade before committing to buy the full-sized product.

I'm curious about this product and want to see if this Natural Jelly Cleansing Puff from Etude house actually makes a difference in my skin. Review? I think yes once I try it out :)

-Dr. Mascara Fixer in "Volume-Up"

MISSHA was having a half off sale on all their eyeliners during the time I visited Seoul. So why wouldn't I buy a couple to try?! :) Plus, they just came out with a new foundation that, I'm not going to lie, really caught my attention with its beautiful packaging.

I can't wait to try this! It's supposed to be fairly light (despite the fact it has "cake" in its name) but have higher coverage than a typical BB cream. It also has an SPF of 40 PA ++.

This might not be a makeup product...but I just decided to include this into this part of the haul. I love the idea behind this brush and once I use it a little more I plan to do a more in-depth review.

Ahhhh SKIN FOOD.... I love you so much. I was super excited to see they also came out with a couple new product lines! Check it out!!
