Having Dessert in Myeongdong at O'Shakes | The Travel Breakdown

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

I've been saving this footage for a year now! Can you believe it?! So last year, when I was in Korea, I took a ton of footage and this is something I wanted to save for the Fall time. The dessert place I had gone to was all decked out in Halloween decorations so I thought what better time than now to get this baby up! Here are the details of the day and where I went exactly!
So, let's start up with the beginning of the day. That morning, I had gone to the Dog Cafe. I wanted to get there nice and early so I could beat the other customers so I could get great footage for my video for you guys! However, to my dismay, it was closed :( I had already visited that same cafe several times (FYI, the Dog Cafe in Myeongdong doesn't open on time. haha.) and it was never open! Determined to get in, my mom and I ended up walking around Myeongdong and decided to get a snack in O'Shakes. I was immediately attracted to the store because #1 it looked delicious, #2 it was adorably decorated, #3 I could've gone for something sweet.

If you're ever in Myeongdong and decide you want to try this place out, here's the location!

Address: 11-26 Myeong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Closest Metro Station: Myeongdong
Tel: +82 02-3789-0125
Website: www.o-shake.com

For those of you guys who like the pictures, here they are! Like I said, I was absolutely mesmerized by the beautiful and festive decorations. Plus, this place has several floors so there's lots of possibilities for seating!!

My dessert! Look how pretty it is!!
The floor that we sat on! There's an additional floor upstairs!

I hope you guys enjoyed my little post on O'Shakes! If you end up going or if you've ever gone, let me know!

My Official Introduction to The Travel Breakdown

Friday, January 8, 2016

Hi guys! Well, I should've made this post a couple days ago along with trailer I posted on my channel, The Beauty Breakdown, but I'm starting a new series on my channel! I know a lot of you have been anticipating the release of my Korean Travel Vlogs but I wanted to give myself time to create something that I'm really proud to share with you guys. Because of this, I wanted to take a moment to explain my thought process behind this new series and the overall concept of it :) So without further adieu, The Travel Breakdown everyone!
Inspiration
There are many things in life that I love. Animals. Food. Rainy Days. Let's also not forget, of course, beauty and traveling. Because of this, I wanted to be able to channel my creativity through a new venue. This is where The Travel Breakdown comes in. Now I know a lot of people casually film themselves doing things (which isn't bad and I'll probably do the same thing here and there) but I wanted to do something that was fun and exciting and something that would make my viewers feel like they're with me experiencing the same things. That's why I made it a point to take my time with this project so I could really showcase different places, foods, experiences, etc.

Concept
The concept behind this travel series is going to be exploring new places and trying new things together. This means it's not going to just be footage from things I did while I visited Korea (although the first "season" will obviously be a lot of stuff from when I visited Seoul). I want to make this series about even exploring local places around me and really taking in every new experience. I feel like a lot of times, we get caught up in the idea of "traveling". Traveling tends to carry this connotation of being expensive or you have to be 1,000s of miles away from home when I really don't feel like that's the case. When I sit back and think about it, there are a bunch of things I want to experience within a 100 mile radius of where I live! I want to share that idea with you guys though this series also because I want everyone to really take advantage of every single moment of life. You don't have to spend a boat-load of money or go to a different country to travel :)

When Will it Air?
Officially, the first episode of The Travel Breakdown will go live January 8, 2016. At the moment, I don't have a set schedule of a certain day of the week or how often I'm going to upload episodes. This is because I don't like to limit what I upload/film/edit but it'll be often enough I promise :)

I think that pretty much covers everything! Like I said, I really just wanted to take a moment to further introduce all of you to The Travel Breakdown so we're all on the same page. I hope you enjoy and I can't wait to share with you! Lots to come :)

xoxo,
Morgan

[Review] Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam

Friday, January 23, 2015

If you've been watching my channel, The Beauty Breakdown, you know I've been raving about this product! It's the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam! I figured I should do a proper review on this. I picked this up in Korea, when Innisfree was having a buy one, get one free sale. I got this and another cleanser for around 8,000 won! Which is like $8 USD! I wish I would've bought more :(

Let's get to the breakdown...

Packaging...
There's really not much to say about the packaging.. it's pretty straightforward. It has that "sterile" look that all Innisfree products have...

Consistency...
This cleanser is pretty thick! And a little goes a long way! You only need a pea-sized amount and that's enough to clean your entire face and neck area.

Benefits...
The volcanic properties from Jeju Island in this product are supposed to control you sebum (Oil) and helps keep your pores clean. You can see the littles beads in it, which burst and add to the nice clean feeling it gives!

Makeup Removal...
This cleanser powers through makeup! It does a great job of making your skin feel super clean without making it feel tight and dry. You might have to follow up with some makeup remover for stubborn eye makeup though.... but I do that anyways so as long as it gets rid of most of my makeup, I'm happy!

Lather...
This cleansing foam is soooo luxurious. It lathers up really nicely and gets super sudsy. I like this because it really does feel like it gets deep into my pores without trying my skin out. I'd really recommend this to all skin types! It's not too drying for dry skin types but it gets rid of excess oil, which makes it great for oily skin types.

Scent...
It has that really refreshing and clean scent more Korean cleansing foams have. It smells soooo good and I really look forward to using this cleanser!

[Review] Etude House Oh m'Eye Line Liquid Eyeliner

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

This Oh m'Eye Line Liquid Eyeliner is another one of those Etude House products that you have to try because everyone seems to love it and it's so cheap! When I bought this in Korea, I believe I paid around 4,000 won, or $4 USD. Without further adieu... here's the review (haha... oh my rhyming skills).

Let's get to the breakdown....

Packaging....
This is just your typical liquid liner packaging. I actually like that the handle is extra long because it feels like it gives me more control.

Oh, Etude House. You kill me with you puny names.

My only complaint about the packaging is that I wish the scraper on the inside (like the mouth of the container) were more narrow so it would scrape off more product. Haha I don't know how else to better describe it, but you can see in the picture that when you first pull the brush out, there's almost too much eyeliner on it. I personally like thinner liner, but it's really not that big of a deal.

Brush...
With a little work, you can wipe so of the excessive off. As you can see, the brush is very fine and pointed. I love this because it gives a very precise line. It's not very study though, so for beginners, this eyeliner will probably take some practice to master. I have deemed myself an eyeliner professional... so for me... it doesn't really affect me. But you can definitely still use this if you're not that comfortable with liquid eyeliners yet!

Accuracy...
Like I mentioned above, the finally tipped brush allows for very accurate lining.

As you can see from my swatches, you can create very thin lines and very thick lines.

Opacity...
This eyeliner is nice and dark :) I love dark, dark eyeliners. For me, the darker the better. So I was satisfied with the opacity of this eyeliner.

Waterproof and Long-lasting...
This eyeliner is waterproof, as long as you don't rub or touch it while it's wet.  It also wears very nicely throughout the day. I didn't notice it fading whatsoever (Note: I don't have oily eyelids at all) so I really liked this eyeliner.

Removal...
This actually comes off fairly easily with warm water and soap. You will also probably need a little makeup remover to get the rest off. This eyeliner was actually interesting the way it comes off because it reminds me of eyelashes glue. It's almost rubbery and it almost 'rolls' off. No need for scrubbing and it doesn't smudge all over your face when you're trying to take it off. I try to show what I meant by 'being similar to eyelash glue' in the picture.

[Review] Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

I picked up this Missha Super-Extreme Waterproof Soft Pencil Auto Eyeliner last time I was in Korea because they were having buy one eyeliner, get one free! This one seemed impressive, so without much thought I picked this one out!

Let's checkout the breakdown...

Packaging....
I picked this eyeliner out because it looked fancyyy to me. It almost looks like Lancome eyeliner packaging. Plus, I love that it's an automatic pencil, so no need for sharpening!

Color...
The color I have is "Black"...
Like I said, it's an automatic pencil so that's nice. It rolls up when you need more product.

Softness/Smoothness...
This eyeliner is the perfect combination of softness, but not too creamy. It glides and fairly well and doesn't tug at your skin.

Pigmentation...
This eyeliner is definitely not a pigmented eyeliner. It's more along the lines of a soft black versus a really dark black. The bottom line is one swipe, the middle line is two swipes, and the third line is three swipes. You can see that even on the three swipes, it's still not very dark.

Smudge Test...
I waited for the eyeliner to set and dry and dragged my finger across the lines. It smudged very easily and pretty bad as you can see in the picture below.

Waterproof Test...
Well it may not be smudge proof, but this has to be waterproof since it says "waterproof" in the name right? WRONG. It washed off really easily in the water. I mean, if you're looking for eyeliner that washes off easily, this would be good for you! haha. But for me, I like long wearing and dark eyeliners.

As you can see, it wiped off pretty easily after getting it wet.
