The Ultimate Cushion Foundation Guide, Review, and Comparison...32 Different Cushions!

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

It's taken me a while to get this review together because...well... I feel like it's pretty self-explanatory. I reviewed 32 CUSHION FOUNDATIONS in one video! So not only was the testing process super long, but it took me a while to be comfortable with the cushion foundations in this video. I mean, you've seen how often Korean Beauty companies come out with new products. I just couldn't decide when I'd had enough to do this review with. Well, I broke down and just did it! It took a ton of work and, of course, this video is super long but I think it's really informative. So I hope you enjoy this video and I also included the close up swatches I did on paper!

Let's get to the breakdown...

Here's a list of the cushions I reviewed in this video, plus links of where to buy them!
Also, be sure to select the YOUR shade for the cushion foundation!
-Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact High Coverage (Bought in Duty-Free at Airport)

Swatches on Paper
I decided to swatch each of the cushions on a piece of lined paper for two reasons: 1. So you could see the coverage because it's lined 2. So you could see the contrast in undertones against the white. Notice, I placed the brand name above the swatch and the particular cushion and its shade below.

Anyways guys, I hope you enjoyed this video! It was a lot of work, but I think it's helpful for those of you guys who are looking into any of these :)

[HAUL] New The Face Shop Disney Collection Haul, Review and Demo

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Ok so fun fact...I'm a HUGE Disney fan. I love anything Disney so when I saw The Face Shop had released a new collection collaborating with Disney, I had to get it! I immediately went online, expedited my shipping so I could get it quickly, and made this video for you guys :) I was sure to swatch, demo and review everything so you guys could get a good idea of what the collection is like. Here's the written version for those of you who prefer this type of format!!
Let's get to the breakdown....

The Face Shop Disney Coloring Stick Eyeshadows
I ordered two of these stick eyeshadows because in all honesty, I wasn't super interested in these. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of Korean beauty companies make really similar shades. I only picked out a couple so I could review them for you guys. These, in my opinion, aren't really that great. They look pretty, are sparkly, and smooth but these fade really fast. They also smudge pretty quickly so really these are only nice for the packaging.

The Face Shop Disney Cushion Foundations
These were products I really wanted to try! I LOVE the packaging on these and I love that they are 3D . There are 3 different formulas, which I believe are all new. If they're not new, The Face Shop changed the names of them. I'm going to test them out further and give you a more in-depth review but for now, this is a little overview of what the concept of these are. The Mickey case is the BB Power Perfection. This one is meant for oily/normal skin. The Mike case is the CC Long-Lasting cushion. Like the name implies, this is designed to last all day and through humidity. Finally, the Pooh bear packaging is the CC Cooling Cushion. This one is the moisture version and is designed for dry skin.

The Face Shop Disney Lip Products
The Face Shop Disney Tinted Lip Balm
This is a nice little tinted lip balm. The consistency is closer to a gel than a cream and I also love the smell of this. It smells like candy! I love how smooth this applies and it feels really comfortable on the lips. Plus, the color is actually visible and it gives your lips a nice touch of color.

The Face Shop Disney Ink Gel Stick
I got one of these and this is another product I would say isn't a must. It's a decent lipstick but I just find this a little too slick for my liking. The consistency feels a bit cheap because it's so thin. The color is fairly nice but again, I feel like it's the packaging that sells this product.

I also got the watery tint in Pink Imagination and I really like this tint. It's a comfortable tint to wear, doesn't overly dry your lips, doesn't crack and it lasts for a while. I think the tinted lip balm and the watery tint are the winners here. I would recommend those over the gel lipstick for sure!
Swatches from left to right: Ink Gel Stick in Coral Overalls, Tinted Lip Balm in Sweet Rich Pink, and Watery Tint in Pink Imagination

The Face Shop Disney Mono Pop Lips & Eyes
There are 3 palettes available with this collection. I ended up getting the Mickey version (even though I ordered the Pooh version too but US customs took it out of my package for some reason) and this is the only palette out of the three that has both the eyeshadows and cheek/lip colors. This is the perfect palette for traveling, staying overnight somewhere, or if you're looking for a beginner palette. The colors are nice and neutral and the eyeshadows are pigmented and smooth. I would say the cream colors are better on the lips than the cheeks. I would definitely recommend this palette!
Alright you guys! Hope you had fun checking out this collection with me! Let me know of any other collections you'd like me to check out :)

[Review] IOPE Air Cushion XP in N23 Review

Monday, March 7, 2016

Hello lovely :) Today I've got a review for you that a lot of you guys have been asking about! Since I showed the IOPE Air Cushion XP in my Biggest Korean Makeup Haul ever on my channel, The Beauty Breakdown, some of you have been requesting a review on it... and continually asking. So here it is for those who were curious :)
Let's get to the breakdown...

Packaging...
The packaging of this IOPE Cushion is very simply and classy. I like that it looks very clean and mature.
Shade...
I have shade N23. The "N" stands for natural. This means the cushion is supposed to have a natural finish and light to medium coverage. I'll get to the coverage in a second but I LOVE the color of this cushion. I have about an NC 20-25 MAC foundation shade so this matched me very well.
Coverage...
I liked how it concealed my dark under eye circles but I don't think this had enough coverage on some red spots on my face. You can see in the pictures below, I have a pimple on my chin and this failed to cover it enough. Although, you can always just use a little extra concealer :)
Finish...
When I initially applied this on my skin, I liked the finish. It was dewy but not too dewy. However, as the day went on, this got WAY too dewy looking. It made my dry skin look down right oily. Also, this never sets on its own. This definitely requires to be set with a powder. When I didn't do that, I had things sticking to my face all day. When I set it, it did help with the oiliness and stickiness, but I do wish they'd adjust the formula a little bit!
Wear...
Like I mentioned above, I really liked how it looked at first. After a couple hours, it settled into my pores, creased all over the place, and moved around a ton. I was pretty much afraid to touch my face all day because I didn't want to disturb the foundation.
Look at how much this emphasized my pores!
Overall...
Alright, without a powder and primer, this cushion kind of sucks. haha. When I wear this IOPE cushion alone, it creases, emphasizes my pores, gets super oily, and remains sticky. I couldn't STAND it. However, when I do wear a primer and powder, it really is a bit better. It's still slightly sticky and dewy with the powder,  but I can live with this. For oily-skinned people, I'd say proceed with caution.

[Review] New 2015 Etude House Moistfull Collagen Foundation Review

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Hello there :) Welcome back to my website! Today, we'll be looking at Etude House's new foundation, the Moistfull Collagen Foundation. Funny story actually... when I was in Korea (where I picked this up), I wanted to check this foundation out but couldn't find it anywhere! It was sold out in almost every store when I was in Seoul, Korea, but I lucked out at the Etude House in the airport because they had one left in my shade. Nice! :) I did a first impressions of this foundation, so be sure to check that out. Now let's get to the actual blog review of this product!

Let's get to the breakdown...

Packaging
The packaging of this product is so cute and simple! I love Etude House products because they always look so cute and princess-y. I've heard that some people think the packaging of Etude House products look cheap... but I don't think so :) It also, obviously, comes with an air puff inside and a nice mirror!
Application
I'm combining these two sections because I feel like in this circumstance, they're related and dependent on each other. The application of this is somewhat thick. Not too bad but with cream foundations like this, I find that I prefer to apply them with a separate brush versus the puff provided. Even the air puff applies these type of foundations a little thick.
Lasting-Ability
As the day wears on, this foundation falls apart even more. It gets patchy, emphasized my dry patches (I have dry skin), makes my skin look super oily, wears off in random places, and to top it off, STREAKS! I've never had a foundation really do that to me.
Shade
Now the shade of this applies SUPER grey. Like WTF ETUDE HOUSE?! As you can see in the video, my face looks super ashy when I apply it. And I usually match Etude House foundations in shade 2. However this foundation, which I forgot to mention is in shade 2 "natural beige", is not just way too light.. it's way too grey. Plus, it doesn't oxidize much. So you're stuck with that shade. Also, this is the darkest of the TWO shades that are available. Yes, there's only two shades available. Look at how ashy this looks below!
 Overall
I've actually never disliked a foundation as much as I dislike this one. I know it's strong words, but I'm being honest with you guys because I don't want you to waste your money! I can't believe Etude House even thought this was ok to release! It does the opposite of what foundations are supposed to do... aka hide your flaws, make your skin look nice, last all day, make you look healthy. It makes you oilier and drier in certain spots, makes you look ashy and dry, wears off quickly in certain spots, and is just terrible overall.

Overall: Can I give negative stars?

[Review/Haul] New Pony Effect Seoul That Girl Holiday Collection Swatches!

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Hey everyone! I'm excited to present to you the newest collection released from Pony herself...The Pony Effect Collection! These are products that are created and put together by Pony personally, and they'll be available for sale on Memebox soon! Their officially released November 19th, I wanted to show you guys close-up pictures, swatches of the products, and brief reviews!

Let's get to the breakdown...

Promotional Images
Sultry Cranberry Picture Tutorial
That Girl Fever Shadow and Luminous Contouring Palette
The first thing you notice about these palettes are obviously the packaging. I love how slim these are, which makes them nice and compact. Both palettes are accompanied with a massive mirror, which is always a plus. Also, I appreciate that the palettes are different colors. This is helpful when you're rummaging through your makeup collection! You'll be able to tell the difference between the palettes without having to open them.
The eyeshadow palette contains 9 different eyeshadows. They're nice sizes, at about 3/4 of an inch, and beautiful. They swatch wonderfully and look super pigmented on the eyes. I've done a few looks with them (see the one above!) and they're great! The only ones that fall a little short for me are "#Just 10 Seconds" and "#All That Glam". They're a bit chunky and have a bit of fallout to them. The other eyeshadows are nice, smooth, and opaque :) I'm actually super impressed with this palette and right now it's $33!
Next, let's take a look at the contouring palette. Contouring has been all the RAGE in Korea right now, even though it's been popular here in the states for a while. However, instead of chiseling yourself new cheekbones, it's more popular to contour along your jawline in Korea. However, we all know the importance of finding a contour that is not orange or too grey so that the contour looks natural. I actually think Pony did an excellent job with this! I also love that there's two shades of contour, so depending on your skin tone or how heavy of a contour you'd like, you can definitely customize your look. However, the highlights are a bit lack-luster for me. I can see how they're a "natural" highlight, but they're just not exemplary highlights. They're not super shimmery and there's nothing super "glow-y" about them. Still not terrible though!
Pony Effect That Girl Outfit Lipsticks
I have to say, I really like these lipsticks. The packaging is gorgeous and I love how bright and happy they are. The lipsticks have a magnet inclosure, so they snap shut when you close them. They seem pretty secure too! The formula of these are nice and smooth and don't take a ton of swipes to look nice and opaque. These are a satin finish and I don't find them super moisturizing. One this is.. I think these are a bit over-priced at $18 a pop (regularly $22) considering there's nothing phenomenal or super luxurious about the formula. I mean, I REALLY like MAC lipstick formulas and they're cheaper than these.
Pony That Girl Outfit Lipstick in "Noble Brunch"
This is easily my favorite product out of this collection. It's the PERFECT nude! If you have had issues with finding nudes that don't make you look dead, your search is over! It's the perfect peach-y, pink nude that will go great with any look. A great color to through in your purse and wear daily! If you're going to get one lipstick.. get this one!
Pony That Girl Outfit Lipstick in "Expensive Dinner"
I'd consider this a very wearable red. It's a bit of a cranberry red color and doesn't have any tones of orange to it. I like it and think it would be a nice color for the upcoming holiday season :)
Pony That Girl Outfit Lipstick in "Vibrant Club"
I noticed in the promotional pictures that this looks really purple. However, I'd say again, this is a wearable berry color. It has a nice hint of deep plum. In my opinion, berry red is a good description of what this color looks like in person!
That Girl Illusion Nail Laquer
Now these are the only products from the line that I haven't tried yet. They look gorgeous though and I'm super excited this set comes with a cellophane effect polish. It's been so trendy in Korea and I can't get enough of it. Plus, look at those other colors! How pretty and I have nothing remotely similar to these shades so YAY! :)
Well guys, I hope you're excited! If you're a fan of Pony, like I am, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the collection. Plus, it's just in time for the holidays! :)
