[HAUL] NARS Long Hot Summer 2016 Collection Haul

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Hello everyone! Today I'm bringing you some new products from NARS... complete with a little review and pictures of both the products! Yay for summer collections, yes?? :)
Let's get to the breakdown...
NARS Laguna / Casino Bronzing Powder Duo
When I first opened this duo, I was surprised because both powders look really similar. However, I've had these for a couple weeks now and I'm confident in saying they are fairly different.
On the left side, there's Laguna. Laguna is the famous matte bronzer that works for pretty much every single skin tone. It's a really nice shade and it's super easy to work with!
On the right side, there's Casino. You can see that has a slightly warmer tone and is also very easy to work with. I'd say that Laguna is better for contouring while Casino is better for bronzing (carrying up onto the cheeks). I think these are both really nicely pigmented and smooth.
I couldn't find the bronzing duo online (they might be sold out :( ) so here's links for the bronzers seperately. (affiliate links)

NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette
This is the cutest little palette. This is actually smaller than the bronzing duo! Inside, there are 6 neutral-toned eyeshadows. 4 of the shadows are shimmery and 2 of them are matte.
The names are from left to right, top to bottom: Long Hot Summer I, Long Hot Summer II, Bellissima II, Long Hot Summer III, Long Hot Summer IV, and Bengali
I found the names kind of funny and un-original for NARS. However, that's not what matters right? Let's talk about the eyeshadows themselves. I love these eyeshadows and I love how compact this palette it. However, I feel like there's not a ton of versatility in looks with this. I can get maybe 2 or 3 different looks, but I feel like theres should've been one more matte or perhaps a different range of colors because I find some of them a little similar *cough cough, Long Hot Summer III and IV, cough cough*. If you don't mind having the option of 2 or 3 looks, I'd say this is great because I love the size! However, if you're like me... who likes to look different everyday, I find myself reaching for supplemental colors when I'm using this palette.

Well, there's my quick review and haul of some of the products from the new NARS Long Hot Summer Collection ! Let me know if you've tried these products and what you think of them :)

[REVIEW] Rire Lip Powder Review in Hot Plum

Monday, June 20, 2016

I'm always on the hunt for interesting and fun products (let me know if you find any ok? :D ) so when I saw this RIRE Lip Powder, I knew I had to get it and test it out. Check out my video review below to see what I thought about it!

Let's get to the breakdown...

So, in typical fashion, here are the close-up pics and my written review of the product.

Packaging...
The packaging is... ok. Honestly, to me, it looks a little cheap. Plus, I don't find it that functional. As you can see in the demo that I did in the video, the handle actually makes applying the product more difficult. It doesn't allow for an accurate application and since the handle is tapered, I could see this slipping out of my fingers, dropping it, and making a mess.
Consistency
This had the COOLEST consistency. Like the name implies, it does start off as a powder. However, magically, it turns into a liquid lipstick consistency when you apply it or rub it. I love it and it actually feels fairly moisturizing on my lips considering this started off as a powder.
 Application
This applies really smoothly. I love how it glides onto my lips, which are usually very dry. Like I mentioned above, I'm not a fan of the packaging, but overall, the actual product was nice to apply. Plus, I really liked the color!
Overall
I didn't test this to see how long it would last, however, it did pretty much seem like a liquid lipstick stain. It does stain a little bit but you can also wipe it off for the most part. Hopefully, that makes sense. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this first impressions and let me know of any other cool products you've tried!!

[HAUL] Asian Beauty Products + MASSIVE Laneige Haul

Thursday, May 12, 2016

Preview alert! So later today, I'll be releasing my haul from Singapore! (One of the benefits of following my blog... seeing things earlier than everyone else :D )While I was there, I picked up some Asia exclusives, Japanese beauty products, and a BUNCH of stuff from Laneige. I was looking for Singaporean beauty products, but I guess for the most part, they import a lot of their beauty. I took the opportunity, however, to look at some Asia exclusive products and pick up some other things because it's a little cheaper while I'm in Asia versus buying it overseas. Anyways, I'm talking to much so let's get into the haul :)

Let's get to the breakdown...
Laneige Beauty Products
Ok first let me say I did get all my Laneige products given to me. Laneige was a big sponsor of the Clozette Style Party, so they supplied me with all these goodies! Thank you so much :) Also, if you want more info on some of these products, let me know! For the most part, this is going to be a very pic-heavy post. Also, watch the video to get more of my thoughts on the products and the actual shade names. This post is for getting a closer look of the products :)

My Entire Laneige Brush Collection

Thursday, May 5, 2016

Hello loves :) I'm back from Singapore and while I was there, I picked up a TON of new goodies! You know how I do ;) Laneige was actually one of the sponsors for the events I was attending with Clozette, so they hooked a girl up! While I will be doing an entire Singapore haul, I wanted to show you guys close ups of these brushes in particular just in case you were interested in picking them up! Also, I've been using them for a bit now, so I wanted to give my thoughts as well :)

Let's get to the breakdown...

So first off, these brushes are so soft! I love how they fell and they didn't really shed when I washed them. I would definitely say that this is a sufficient brush set... as in if you were to buy all of these you wouldn't need to get any other brushes. I mean realistically, you don't need any brushes. lol. But these are lovely!
One thing I have to note is that I have NO IDEA what the markings on the brushes mean. In the pictures, you can see that I sorted them by the color on the handle. However, I'm not sure what they mean because as you can see, they don't make sense. Like the eyeshadow brushes are not marked with the others and the foundation brushes are not marked the same. Hope that makes sense!

Concealer, Foundation, Eyeshadow and Paddle Brush
Initially, what drew me to the brushes was the number 02 brush AKA the foundation brush. When I was getting my makeup done by Laneige, the makeup artists used it to apply both my skincare and foundation.. it felt SO good! I thought that was interesting.. not that I would actually apply my skincare with it everyday but who knows! Maybe if I'm feeling special. haha. The others are nice, but pretty standard brushes.
Stipling, Powder, Smudge and Bullet Brush
Out of these 4 brushes, I'd say the powder is my favorite. The others are standard brushes but the powder brush is so soft and dense! I love how it applies my powder :)
 Blush, Contour, and Lip Brush
I LOVE the blush and contour brush. I'm quite used to using a blush brush that is shaped more like a paddle, however, this one is more rounded at the top.. hope that makes sense. The makes applying my blush so easy and it looks perfect everytime! As for the contour brush, I love how dense this is and it's a bit more stout than other brushes I use. This makes contour super concise, yet blended. I don't really use lip brushes but it's handy to have one when I do!
Mini Stipling, Blending, and Eyeliner Brush
Out of these, I like the eyeliner brush the most. It's rounding so it makes drawing a natural line that is close to the lashes easier. The mini stipling brush is nice for highlighter and such. I find that the blending brush is actually too big for my crease. I think I'll start using it to set my under eye concealer!
 Eyebrow Brush
This eyebrow brush is slightly thicker than the one I'm currently using. This is nice for making my eyebrows look soft. It's nice for a change! A spoolie is a must for me, by the way, because I always brush out excess product after filling my eyebrows in.
Well there's my new Laneige Brush Collection! I love them so much :) By the way, did you guys know that you're getting a preview of a video coming up? See, that's the benefit of following my blog too... you get sneak peeks ahead and time and get to see something first! Don't forget to subscribe to my channel, The Beauty Breakdown

[First Impressions] MASK FROM HELL! Tosowoong Monster Cocoon Pack Review

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Alright, alright... this is a post I've been putting off for a little bit.. Probably because I can't stand to look at my poor skin in these pictures. SPOILER ALERT: This mask tore up my skin. I feel like you deserve a proper review however, so I'm relieving this horrifying experience.. for you guys! Anyways, today's review is going to be on the Tosowoong Monster Cocoon Pack. I should've known by the name of this product that this was not going to turn out good.

Let's get to the breakdown...

Packaging...
The product comes in a squeeze tube. There's nothing complex about the packaging but I do like that it's spooky looking. As a Halloween fanatic, I love anything that reminds me of my favorite time of the year! The packaging is probably the only thing I liked about this product. haha.

Directions...
You're supposed to apply this mask on cleansed skin and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Then you rinse your face to remove the mask. YOU DO NOT PEEL THIS MASK. *sigh* So many people do not read the instructions/my comments/look it up online and comment on my video that I did this mask wrong. People.. this is a wash off mask. It's not a peel off mask. If I'd peeled this off my skin, my skin would've been really sad. haha. Oh and I'd like to note this was terrible to take off.. so hard to rinse off!!
Experience...
Within a couple minutes, this mask started to tighten on my skin. Now that's supposed to happen. Through tightening, it's supposed to tighten the skin and this also helps to remove dead skin cells. You're not supposed to really move your face during this part. I'm aware of this, so I tried to talk whilst barely moving my face. Now, I understand all this. However, this mask was WAY TOO TIGHTENING. I get that it's supposed to tighten, but if a mask tightens to the point where it's tearing your skin... it's a little too much. I feel like that was the biggest issue with this mask. In the process of trying to be interesting looking, it failed to be effective. Actually, it's was more harmful than anything!
Results...
Well, it's clear to see what happened to my skin. It got SUPER irritated from this mask. Like I mentioned above, through tightening this mask actually hurt my skin because it was pulling at it. I don't understand how they can actually say that this is designed for all skin types?! This would be absolutely terrible for sensitive or acne-prone skin types! I mean, there's not much more to say about this mask.. I won't be using it again and I think there are a ton of other masks that are more effective and gentle. Also, I do want to note that I always patch test products. Proper patch testing is to be done on the side of the neck/behind the ear since the skin there is about the same thickness of your face and because it's more similar to your face. My neck turned out ok but that goes to show.. sometimes with skincare you never know! Just proceed with caution :) Oh and my skin was fine after a couple days. Just a little tender and in need of some TLC but everything is fine. Thank you for those of you who left sweet comments! I love you guys :)

Overall: NO STARS! (well, except for packaging haha)
